Sarah Butler and Jodelle Ferland
Washington Butler is a native of Puyallup who was awed by arts and culture from an early age. She sang in choirs entered performances in singing contests, and was a part of the community theatre and in high school. The actress moved from Los Angeles to study theatre at the University of Southern California and later, she played Belle the princess in Beauty and the Beast for one year and a half at Disneyland. Her departure from college was to find an agent. She then began doing auditions and appearing on TV as well as film. Butler played a part in the TV shows CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. Her auditions led to parts in the films A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser, and the Syfy TV Horror film Flu Bird Horror (2008). She had a role in the year-long web-based series Luke 11:17, produced by Don Stark. Butler also played a regular character on I Love Vampires, a web-based series. Butler won the leading role in the 2010 thriller about rape and revenge I Spit on Your Grave. This remake was a remake in 1978 of the beloved iconic film with the same title. It was initially a turn-off for her because it was awash in violence, nudity as well as gender-based undertones. But the compelling plot and the feminist aspect made her choose to take on the lead role. The film, directed by Steven R. Monroe was released in October 2010. Butler began filming The Stranger Within (a psychological thriller) in Mallorca, Spain, with Estella Ward and William Baldwin back in November 2011. The film was also made on location in Copenhagen Denmark as well as New York City. In June 2012, she joined Michael Biehn in the Los Angeles production of Treachery.
